Hi and welcome to Gadget Guide USA. Thanks
for tuning in. I’m Stephen Kowalski and I’ll be your gadget guide today as we explore
this clothes hook camera J018. I decided to go ahead and start this one off actually using
real footage from the clothes hook camera so I hope you enjoyed it.
Ok. I hope you enjoyed that demo there. Let’s go ahead and get started. As you can see this
is the clothes camera box J018. Video, motion detection, USB clothes hook. Frame rate 30
ftp. Ok. Video format AVI and it says it supports memory card up to 16 gigabytes and that’s
’rue. I tried a 16 gigabyte card. That’s actually what you saw the recording in and
a 32 gigabyte card was not even recognized. It just…ok.
Now let’s go ahead and get started. As you can see it has the coat hanger here. Of course
if you are looking for creepy camera devices this is definitely a 5 star creeper award.
It looks just like a clothes hook. I guess this little hole is a little obvious. I mean
it’s not like…it’s not going to pass a deep inspection but at casual observation
you might not notice it. It definitely makes me feel uncomfortable.
So let’s go ahead and pull out and see what’s in the box here. We have our instructions.
One side is in Chinese. The other in English. We’ll go ahead and lay that there. It comes
with a mounting bracket and you can see here that it kind of it’s made into…you can
lock it in with screws and then so if you mount that to the wall if I can get it right
here and then it locks up in there. So if you were to mount this to the wall you can
take that and you can remove it and it actually would mount just like that and you can take
that out. If don’t…if you have ever don’t want to have to screw it in permanently it
comes with the screws but it also comes with this double-sided pad here and that fits perfectly
in the back. So not only can you mount it with screws you can also mount it with double
stick tape. It also comes with your charging device. I didn’t actually use the specific
chords because I have so many laying around but as you can see it slides right in and
then you can plug this in to your computer if you want to do data transfer or you can
plug it into a power brick or whatever you have available with a hot and live USB port
for charging. So of course charging is pretty much straight forward there.
And now let’s go ahead and look at the device. It’s almost made completely of plastic.
You know I’m not sure what’s inside but the outside is all hard plastic as you see
it has a sheen to it. It has some indicator lights here. It has an on/off switch on the
back. The mini SD, mini USB and then we have an SD card here. So as you can see it just
pops in and pops out there so you know and it supports up to 16 gigabytes. It does have
an on/off feature. I guess that’s so you can save battery or you can turn it on and
off at will. But one thing that it does have is a motion detect feature and you can get
into that mode right there. Basically once you turn it on you hold this button down for
4 seconds and then the status indicator light will come on. Or I’m hoping it comes on
here. See there we go. And as you can see that now means it’s on. So if I click this
a single short press it will actually start a video. So…yeah it will start a video.
You can click here. The light turns off and right now we are filming a video. So if you
wanted to see that I could actually give you the video. I’m not going to because I already
have the demo posted. Now we click it another time and the green light comes back on. That
means it’s no longer filming. Now if we want to put it into motion detection, I actually
used motion detection to shoot that demo that you saw at the beginning. You just double
click it and it should blink there and right now it’s on motion detection. Of course
it’s actually filming right now because I’m moving it around and because I’m standing
in front of it talking. But you can see the motion detection feature and the film feature
are easy. Anytime you want to shut it off you just click that button to and that green
light turns on. And that’s just to make sure the video saves. You can of course just
switch the switch off but if you’re in the middle of a filming I found that I would be
filming and if I just flick the switch off to turn it off instead of just clicking a
button it would actually delete the last video I was filming. So make sure that when you
are filming just to do that single click and see that indicator light turn back on before
you turn it off to make sure the video is saved. Connecting to a computer is pretty
straight forward. Everything’s pretty straight forward.
Overall it works. You can see the quality of the video and the quality of the sound
is actually pretty good for what it is and for the price so I was pretty impressed. The
construction is solid. Of course it’s just solid plastic. I don’t think it could be
bad but it definitely wins the 5 star creeper award for being looking like a clothes hook.
I really don’t feel comfortable buying it myself but as far as functionality and value
it’s all there. Everything works like it’s supposed to. It was a steal at the price I
paid so I feel like overall it’s not a bad product as long as you use it in accordance
with your local laws. I do hope you enjoyed my product review today.
