Vivo V17 Pro Durability Review- DID the 32Mp DUAL Pop-up Camera SURVIVE?

The vivo V17 Pro has the distinction of being
the first Smartphone in the World to sport a Dual Pop-up Selfie Camera with a 32MP Primary
sensor and also a Super Wide-Angle 8MP Camera. Besides that, the V17 Pro has other Good Stuff
like a Quad Camera Set-up, Widevine L1 Certification to stream HD Content, a Premium Glass Sandwich
Design with a more than decent midrange Snapdragon Processor, just a single Variant 8GB of RAM
with 128GB Storage and a customisable Smart Button on the left, among other things. And
right now it seems to be a good deal since the price has dropped a bit
It weighs-in at a Higher 201.8gms but the weight distribution is good and wont be an
issue for those who are used to slightly heavier devices like the Redmi Note 8 Pro or Oppo
F11 Pro. The Build also seems to be sturdy in my usual Trial Bend
The Vivo V17 Pro is meant for those who are a bit conscious about looks and specifically
want an Attractive Looking Smartphone. The Dual Sided Glass Sandwich Design actually
looks awesome and has this Bluish hue on the Glacier Ice Colour Variant
This time Vivo has provided a Tight-Fitting Hard Shelled Case instead of the usual Soft
Ones and we’ll find-out later if it actually Protects your Device or not
Before moving onto the Drop Test, letz have a Quick look at the Heavy Gaming Review for
those who also want Good Performance along with the Camera’s. The V17 Pro is equipped
with a more than decent Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 AIE Processor in combination with Adreno
612 GPU. The AnTuTu Score is decent and as you can see it defaults at High Graphics in
PUBG with High Framerate Settings. There is no lag as such during normal Operations, quite
a smooth experience during Heavy Games like PUBG and definitely recommended for Gamers
Plastic Screen Protectors are always Pre-applied on budget Vivo devices where the Glass Protection
is mostly Scratch Prone. Here it is also Pre-applied at the back of the V17 Pro and since it is
a costlier Midrange device, good Quality Glass is expected As you can see the 32 Megapixel Pop-Up Camera
Unit is made up of Good Quality Materials and is Strong enough to withstand a Good amount
of pressure. When the Camera’s are forcibly Obstructed while opening, it does make some
Weird Mechanical Noises after which the Camera freezes but it does not get permanently damaged.
The Self-Retracting Safety Mechanism during free-fallz seemz to be a bit slow but works
as Advertised AMOLED Displays are more prone to damage during
drops compared to LCD Displays and the Super AMOLED Display of the Samsung Galaxy A70s
had badly failed in its Drop Test. So its kind of unnerving since the V17 Pro also has
a Super AMOLED Display Starting the Drop Test first from Pocket height
with the Company provided hard case and ordinary tempered glass The 6 Hard Drops from Pocket Height was pretty
Loud and Noisy though the V17 Pro seems to be holding up until now. Next starting the
7th Drop from 6 Feet Head Height Even though the entire Drop Test was a very
Noisy Affair, it was a relief the Vivo V17 Pro has managed to survive the Hard Drops
without suffering any physical or internal damage or to the AMOLED Display. But it is
recommended not to Drop the phone when using the Pop-up Camera since it does not Close
fast enough before hitting the Ground Next in the Sound Test, testing-out the Audio
Quality of the bottom firing External Speakers. The Clarity and Loudness of the external speakers
is pretty good compared to other devices. There are no issues while receiving Calls
and it is a enjoyable experience while consuming Media
Testing the Quality of the Tempered Glass Protection provided by the Company, in the
Scratch Test, on the Display and at the Back, by rubbing it with common items and a Heavy
Duty Box Cutter. The only Vivo Device to actually survive the Blade without any Scratch Marks
was the Vivo Z1x. Besides that, most Oppo and Vivo phones tested on the Channel and
every Realme Device except the X and XT consistently fail the Blade with Ugly Scratch Marks. Whereas
higher Quality Tempered Glass Protection even on cheaper Redmi devices with Basic Corning
Glass are easily able to handle the Blade Abuse
Will the Tempered Glass Protection on the Vivo V17 Pro be able to survive the Blade?
As expected of a Premium Midrange Device, the provided Glass Protection on the Vivo
V17 Pro is of Good Quality and does not suffer from any Scratches or damage Now moving onto fun Stuff with Value, the
Bend Test, does the Dual Glass Build of the Vivo V17 Pro suffer from any Structural Weakness
that you should be aware of? The last few Glass Sandwich devices including the Vivo
Z1x, Realme XT or Mi A3, had performed pretty well. The all Glass Redmi Note 8 Pro had also
survived the Bend Test even though it did suffer a slight crack near the SIM Tray, but
the Build Quality of the Vivo V17 Pro seemz to be Strong and is holding up pretty well
after 2 Bends with not much flex. Apart from the slight Creaking Sound while putting pressure
from the Display Side, there was no other incidence or damage suffered
The Vivo V17 Pro passes my Bend Test with ease due to it Well Designed body and Strong
Structural Built
