Security Camera Catches Thief Stealing Truck

DURANGO, AND FORT COLLINS WERE POLICE COME TOGETHER FOR A FAMILY THAT FELL FOR A COSTLY HOUSING SCAM. A MAN DID EVERYTHING RIGHT TO SAFEGUARD HIS PICKUP TRUCK FROM THIEVES. IT HAD A CAMERA INVOLVED AND A TRAFFIC — TRACKING SYSTEM. HE IS LEFT FRUSTRATED BY THE LACK OF RESULTS. THE TRUCK IS STILL MISSING. JAMIE LEARY IS AT THE RADISSON HOTEL WHERE IT WAS STOLEN. WE SEE A LOT OF VIDEOS ON SOCIAL MEDIA BUT RARELY DO THE COPS SOLVE THESE CRIMES. Reporter: THIS IS A PRETTY UNIQUE ANGLE. BRIAN OLSON THOUGHT HE DID EVERYTHING RIGHT. HE HAD THE CAMERA INSTALLED AND HE PARKED IT UNDERNEATH THIS LIGHT. HIS TRUCK WAS STILL STOLEN. DENVER POLICE ARE TRYING TO FIND IT. THE MOST FRUSTRATING PART IS HE HAS SUCH CRYSTAL-CLEAR VIDEO OF THE THEFT IN ACTION. IT SEEMS EFFORT LIT AS ONE CAR WAITS NEARBY, THIS MAN QUICKLY RUMMAGES THROUGH THE CENTER CONSOLE BEFORE SHOUTING TO HIS ACCOMPLICE. WITH THAT, HE TAKES OFF. BRIAN OLSON WOKE UP TO FIND HIS 2016 FORD GONE. THERE WAS ONE RAY OF HOPE, AN ALERT SENT TO HIS PHONE FROM THE CAMERA INSIDE HIS TRUCK. SOMEONE ENTERED MY TRUCK AT 4:40 AM. Reporter: AS MUCH AS HE DID NOT WANT TO SEE, HE PRESSED PLAY. SEEING IT HAPPEN WAS DEVASTATING. I WAS IN SHOCK. Reporter: THE SECURITY CAMERA TRACKED THE VEHICLE TO A LOCATION IN NORTHGLENN. OLSON TOLD POLICE IMMEDIATELY BUT BY 3 PM, THE COMPANY TOLD OLSON THE CAMERA WAS DOWN. THE 30-YEAR-OLD WORKS SEVEN DAYS A WEEK OUT OF HIS TRUCK. HE IS NOW OUT $11,000 WORTH OF WORK EQUIPMENT. LOSING ALL OF THAT STUFF IS HARD. Reporter: THE CAMERA WAS WORTH IT TO CAPTURE THE FACE. HE HOPES IT STOPS THE THIEF. I WANT TO SEE IT BACK BUT I WOULD RATHER PUSH TO FIND HIM SO THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ANYBODY ELSE. Reporter: IT WAS FIVE MINUTES AGO I RAN INTO A DENVER POLICE OFFICER IN THIS PARKING LOT INVESTIGATING ANOTHER STOLEN VEHICLE. HE TOLD ME WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS THEY GET BACK 80% OF THEIR STEELS.
