DIY cheap way to build 10,000 lumens large venues projector


hi my name is Tim I do environmental
protection or 3d projection mapping in my church for many large events
throughout the year I was looking for a ten thousand
lumens projector to improve the visual impact of projected images on the large wall
of my church these 10,000 lumens protectors are
extremely expensive for my budget and they are very heavy for example Epson powerlite pro costs
$15,000 with lens and weights 50 pounds also I did some research with
specialized projectors which build yo do projector stacking again they are also
very expensive so I came out with this idea using to low cost five thousand
lumens LCD projectors with a custom-built reg to do projector
stacking. This custom rig allows me to fully adjust top projector prosition
which physically align both projector lens as closely as possible before I move on
to the digital images alignment step in the end my total cost was under $2,500
and this rig only way 21 pounds i use this setup for two large
events so far and I am very happy with the results For this setup to work you must have
same projectors and both projectors must have corner keystone functionality to build this rig
you need 4 1/2-13 thread rods 12 inches 16 1/2-13 x hex nuts 16 half-inch washers yeah one 12 x 48 a black shelf board I cut it into two 12 x 20 pieces also the
projector mounting screws for your projectors once you have the parts and cut boards
to 12 by 20 then claimed both boards together to
drill out holes so clamp both boards together with c-clamp then drill these mounting holes at same time so they will
be aligned you must claim these two boards together and draw them out at
the same time in order for these top and bottom pieces aligned now i will show you how to align the
projector images using this rig first turn off the remote sensor for the top
projector yeah i will change the top projector using
the buttons on the projector and I will control the bottom projector
using the remote control second turn off auto Keystone ok then move the positions back to 0, 0 yeah make sure we repeat the same steps for
the bottom projectors also display build in cross hair test
pattern yeah then align the center and left and right
borders Image Zoom as closely as possible this is a physical lens alignment adjust
the zoom then loosen the top knots adjust the bottom nuts until you’re close
with alignment yeah tie the top nuts and bottom nuts make
sure your images center image alignment should be very close fourth displayed a square pattern like
this one with text written on them in corners the
test grid pattern image size should be the same size as
your projector’s native resolution in my case is 1024 x 768 next make sure you
reset your corner Keystone positions for both projectors before you start digital
images alignment yeah yeah then align the four corners of the test
grid pattern once the corners aligned I look at at
the sharpness of the text in each corner to dail in the final alignment then you’re done you just build a 10,000
lumens large venues projector for under two thousand five hundred thanks
